BP Practice SCHEDULE
BPs practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. When school is in session, they follow the SP Schedule, with the exception that BPs are released at 5:30 p.m., while SPs continue until 7 p.m.
-
SP is short for “starter player”. These are the members who have earned a starting spot on the drumline. They represent our line standards through their character and actions. We travel a lot around the city and will soon be frequently traveling out of state. These are the kids we wholeheartedly trust to have our uniform on their backs and exemplify what it means to be STEEL. SPs practice Mon-Fri roughly 3.5 hours a day. If college is the goal then SP is the path, arguably the toughest role in the entire school of any activity both curricular and extracurricular but equally rewarding as students pick up skills and characteristics that will change a generation.
-
BP is short for “bench player.” These are the mix of students who have a varying range of obstacles keeping them one level shy of SP. BPs may have scheduling conflicts, Interest conflicts, or maybe the student doesn’t want to commit to drumline 100%. These students only practice with the drumline two days a week, leave practice early and are only required to perform when spots need to be filled or the performance doesn’t require the caliber of an SP-only show.
-
CP is short for “classroom player.” For various reasons, this student is best focused on their rhythmic ability and music education in a classroom setting. The CP does not perform or practice with the drumline at all. CPs stick to the classroom to work on their skills.
